American and British Elementary Schools in Poland – Any Good?

Poland is small hub for American and British private elementary schools and kindergartens. These schools, I can tell, are very much loved, catching the eyes of parents and children alike. Why wouldn’t they? With their personalized teaching styles, wider curriculum, and exceptional teaching standards, they are irresistible.

Yet, it is worth saying that these schools come with high price tags. For the most expensive ones, you’re looking at tens of thousands to over PLN 100,000 per year. That’s a hefty half a million zlotys for the entire schooling period.

So what are the best American and British elementary schools in Poland? This is what I found:

American School of Warsaw

If you need an example, let’s talk about the American School of Warsaw, it is nestled in Konstancin near Warsaw. Allow me to explain – this is an international school following the American curriculum, where English is the mode of instruction. From kindergarten to high school, it prepares students to take the International Baccalaureate.

Rich History and Excellent Facilities

I think it’s interesting to note that the American School of Warsaw has been around since 1952. But hold on, during the People’s Republic of Poland, the Polish couldn’t attend it. The school’s president, who leads the board of trustees, is appointed by the U.S. ambassador.

Today, this school is quite a multicultural hub, with around a thousand students hailing from 57 different countries. Being there, you need to know that ASW is more than just classrooms on a 10-hectare campus. I am convinced that their facilities will impress you.

American School of Warsaw – Library

They’ve got a library, a canteen, a swimming pool, an outdoor pitch, four football fields, three gymnasiums, a fitness center, a photo studio, an art exercise building, and, let me tell you, a theater room that can accommodate 365 people. Now that’s a school offering more than just education, nurturing a well-rounded personality in every child.

British School Warsaw

Moving on, let’s take a trip to Warsaw, where we find the British School Warsaw. It is divided into two locations, Stary Mokotów where the nursery and kindergarten are based, and Sadyba, the main campus of the school.

This international school, established in 1992, is part of the Nord Anglia Education Group. Today, I can tell, nearly 1200 students from 60 countries studiy here, with classes being conducted in English. Of course, if English isn’t your first language, they’ve got your back. This school offers education right from nursery up to high school. For more, you can visit their website: www.ourkids.net.

Prices is British School Warsaw

According to my research, the first year of enrollment has a price of 50,125 zł due to additional one-time fees. The Good Schools Guide lists the annual tuition fees for different age groups, ranging from 37,100 PLN for pre-nursery to 88,640 PLN for Grade 10-11.

It is important to note that these fees may change from year to year, and families should check with the school directly for the most up-to-date information.

I think it’s worth noting that until 16, students follow the English National Curriculum, mastering key skills appropriate for their age. For 12th and 13th grades, they switch to the IB Diploma Programme, which is a top-notch prep program for university studies and international careers.

American Elementary School in Gdynia

Finally, let’s take a quick stop at Gdynia, where we find the American Elementary School. This school operates on the American education system, while also implementing the Polish program of Polish language, science, and mathematics.

The American Elementary School in Gdynia has monthly tuition fees of PLN 2,200 for students in grades 0 through 8. The fees are payable in a 10-month system. Check them out at www.szkolaamerykanska.pl.

All lessons at this school are taught in English, with a ratio of one teacher to every five students. In their charter, they clearly state their mission: to appreciate the individuality and unique personality of each student and elevate the standard of teaching in a friendly environment. Now that’s a statement I believe makes them stand out!
