If you need an escape, want to enjoy a good coffee or your favorite meal in a place with a beautiful view, or if you’re planning a romantic evening, a meeting with friends, or a family lunch, these rooftop bars and restaurants in Krakow are the place to be. I can tell you, the views of Wawel, Wisła, Rynek, and almost all of Krakow are just stunning. It’s worth saying, if you’ve ever wondered whether you can legally get on a rooftop in Krakow and look at the city from above, the answer is yes, and we’ve just told you where!
Metrum Restobistro
Continuing our rooftop adventure, we stumble upon Metrum Restobistro, a less pricey and definitely less exclusive option. This isn’t your typical sky bar or gourmet restaurant, but I think it’s worth a visit for its simple, delightful dishes, and yes, you can go up to the roof!

Nestled on top of the Akademii Muzycznej building, Metrum Restobistro often serves only students and employees of the academy. So, if you want to give it a try, make sure Metrum is open for outside guests. Usually, it’s open durin the summer, but in 2022 it might be closed!
„Vidok” Restaurant
Have you wondered where else you can get rooftop access? Well, the answer lies at Restaurant „Vidok”, located atop one of the more controversial buildings in Krakow – Jubilat at Krasińskiego Avenue. From there, you can admire the view of Wawel, Wisła, and Most Dębnicki. The menu might not knock your socks off, but the view is worth it. They are open from 12:00.

The terrace has plenty of seating, but tables near the railing with a view of Wawel are, of course, in high demand. We were lucky to get a spot when a table freed up. There’s even a charming string of light bulbs that adds an amazing atmosphere to the terrace.
Zielone Tarasy in Kraków
Let’s shift our focus to „Zielone Tarasy”, staying in the alleys of Krakow. At the other end of them, at Juliusza Słowackiego Avenue, there’s a restaurant with a pretty standard menu but a beautiful view. It’s one of our recommendations for affordable eating in Krakow.

One more piece of important information for parents: Zielone Tarasy has a well-equipped children’s corner and a changing table in the restroom. As a mother of a 2-year-old named Mai, I can tell you that I really appreciate such details!
Herbowo Building – A Hidden Gem
I had no idea that there’s a restaurant on the roof of the Herbewo building on Słowackiego Avenue. From there, you can admire the Old Town, Beskidy, and with a bit of luck, even… the Tatry! Not only are there magnificent views from the top, but there are also beautiful plants adding charm to the place. The prices here pleasantly surprised me. I believe they’re quite reasonable for the views offered. For instance, you can grab breakfast for around 20 zł, and you’ll get a coffee or tea for just 1 zł.

If you want to visit this place, I’d recommend reserving a window spot in advance. No matter the time, this place is usually bustling, and as you might guess, everyone picks the spots with the best view.
„U Ziyada” Restaurant
Ever imagined dining in a castle? „U Ziyada” is a restaurant located in a castle in Przegorzały, boasting an incredible view of the Wisła river bend, Beskidy ranges, and on a clear day, even the Tatry!

Cafe „Szał” with a View
If you’re looking for a place to admire the Krakow Market from above, you absolutely need to visit Cafe „Szał”. This coffee shop is nestled in the Cloth Hall. On a fine day, you can grab a seat on the terrace that unfolds a unique view! Be prepared for somewhat higher prices here though. Personally, I recommend this spot for a coffee and a pastry or a drink. But, of course, the decision on what to order is up to you.
