When the sun is blazing and the heat waves are dancing on the asphalt, there’s one thing we all crave – ice cream. In Krakow, there’s no shortage of places to find the ice cream spots, but hey, not all are made equal. So where to get your ice cream fix in Krakow? Whether you’re strolling through Market Square or wandering in Kazimierz, I have the scoop on the top ice cream spots in town.
The Hodurek Brothers Ice Cream
Let me say this, when it comes to traditional ice cream in Krakow, one name stands out – The Hodurek Brothers. You can find these guys at the start of Zwierzyniecka Street, and also on Kalwaryjska, Smolki, and Stachowicha.
Like most ice cream parlors in Krakow, the Hodurek Brothers mix up their flavor offerings daily. The prices are similar to other shops in the city and they’re open until 9pm. I am convinced you’ll appreciate their sugar-free and lactose-free options too. The flavors might be few, but boy, their cones are top-notch. Curious for more on the Hodurek Brothers? Delight in Donizetti
Born out of real Italian passion, Donizetti ice cream parlor is something special. If you want authentic Italian gelato, this is the place. You won’t find neon-colored scoops here, just honest-to-goodness gelato that melts as soon as it hits your tongue. But let’s get real, you need to know Donizetti charges a bit more for their pistachio flavor – 25% more to be exact.

On the bright side, they’re one of the few places that let you mix flavors in one serving, which I think is a fantastic deal. Besides ice cream, they also offer a variety of other Italian snacks. The only letdown here? I believe it’s their cone. But you can find Donizetti at św. Marka 23 and Rydla Market Square. Just bear in mind their prices are a tad higher than most places in Krakow.

Good Lood – The Local Favorite
I can tell you, if you’re strolling around Krakow without any plan of grabbing ice cream, odds are you’ll run into a Good Lood outlet anyway. With dozens of branches in Krakow, Good Lood is a name that needs no introduction.

Come summer, you’ll see lines of people queuing for their ice cream. They offer a mix of basic and daily special flavors, so there’s always something new to try. And the price? Pretty much in line with what you’d find across Krakow. Want to know more about Good Lood? You can get the full scoop here.
The Katane Ice Creams in Kraków
Katana is a name you’ll see at several spots across Krakow. Serving up ice cream with an Italian flair, they offer a different taste from your classc creamy scoops. Gelato is their forte, prepared a bit differently from traditional ice cream.

I am convinced you’ll love the array of flavors on offer, along with some unique Italian specialties. Their prices match the average ice cream cost in Krakow. But here’s a twist: Katane categorizes their flavors into „premium” and „non-premium”, and you’ll need to shell out 25% more for their pistachio flavor, considered a „premium” one.
Venture to Lodowa Huta
Off the beaten path, in Nowa Huta District, you’ll find the hidden gem of Lodowa Huta. This ice cream parlor might not be swarming with tourists like Good Lood, but don’t let that deter you. Sure, you’ll have to travel a bit from Krakow to Nowa Huta District, and aside from buying ice cream there’s not much else to do there. But here’s the silver lining: parking is a breeze.

They serve a mix of traditional and occasional special flavors, which are announced on their Facebook page. Their prices are standard, but I can tell you, their cone is simply the best in Krakow. Discover more about Lodowa Huta in Nowa Huta here.
Tiffany Ice Cream – Creative Delights
Next on our list is Tiffany Ice Cream, situated at pl. Szczepańskie 7. Known for their unique and creative flavors like… saffron. Their prices are on par with other popular spots in Krakow, but the catch is the 25% extra for their „premium” flavors. The selection of other flavors isn’t too broad, but the ones they do serve are traditional cream ice cream.

A thing to remember – they’re only open until 8pm, which is a tad early compared to many places in Krakow. The ice cream is top-notch, though you’ll have to pay extra for the “premium” cone, and the regular one is just average.
„Lodziarnia” Galicyjska Ice Creams
Tucked away in Galeria Kazimierz, you’ll find the unassuming Lodziarnia Galicyjska. They have a range of traditional flavors, along with a few unique ones that pop up from time to time. They also have a small outlet in an unexpected place – on the Kombatowców estate.

The Ice Cream on Starowiślna Street
Last but definitely not least, we have the spot that’s often hailed as the home of the best ice cream in Krakow – the ice cream parlor on Starowiślna. This legendary spot has been serving ice cream since the mid-80s, well before the artisanal ice cream craze took off. The design of the place is a nod to its historical roots.

On sunny days, especially over the weekend, you’ll see a line of ice cream enthusiasts outside the parlor. They offer a limited selection of basic flavors, but each one is a winner. It is worth to say, you might have to brave long queues, sometimes even lasting several minutes, but the wait is absolutely worth it.
